On the 12th December 2019, an Australian Society for Parasitology state outreach event was held at Mowbray Height Primary School in Tasmania. The event focused on children aged ~6-8 years of age and was designed to raise awareness around parasites and STEM more broadly. That’s RAD! Science donated 50 “My mum is a parasite scientist. That’s RAD!” books to the event and these were read to children and given out as prizes. Other activities included and Aquatic Animal Health wet lab where students worked as teams of vets to diagnosed parasitic diseases. The event was attended by 240 children and 10 teachers.
