Inspiring children through engaging STEM stories

The aim of the That’s RAD! Science project is to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers alive for children through a series of fun and educational children’s picture books about people working in different STEM areas. We hope that our books will inspire in young children a love of STEM that they can take with them into the future.

The first book in the That’s RAD! Science series on parasites was released during Queensland National Science Week in August 2017. The second book focuses on the amazing world of nanotechnology and was launched during Brisbane World Science Festival in March 2018. The third book on the fascinating field of forensic science was also released in 2018. In 2019, the fourth book on protein crystal science was released during National Science Week. Thousands of copies of That's RAD! Science books have been distributed to Queensland children at STEM outreach events and to primary school libraries. The books are also available to borrow at Brisbane City Council Libraries or for purchase through Griffith University. That's RAD! Science is a non-profit project and initiative of Griffith University.
